Wireless LAN Adapter - free after rebate

"eCOST also has the Syntax Wireless USB-400 LAN Adapter for $29.95, free after rebate. Shipping is free, but there is a $4 handling fee. Rebate expires June 30, 2004."

A little better than the $9.99 shipping fee from PCMall. Fatcash gives another .75% back. I just got a wireless usb adapter. In for another! 🙂

I have one of these and like it. It gets better reception than a couple of PCMCIA cards I have tried, and installation was a snap. I remember that there were other satisfied users from a previous thread.

Have 4 of them now, all from ecost. (Had friends order others for me).
These are GREAT.
I use them for lan parties.
They work much better than anything else I've tried, such as wireless PCI cards and PCMCIA cards.

cool, thanks.

I picked up one from e-cost back in February...rebate took about 10 weeks, but it came. They work pretty well. Not quite a much range as my d-link usb adaptor, but the installation and setup was much smoother. BTW, it does work with Netstumbler under Windows XP.

How exactly do you buy the item... Whenever I go to the page there is only a Find & Buy link to:

Right. Now do a search (Find) for "Syntax Group" on that page (it should have a long list of stuff on sale). It'll take you down to a bit past halfway down and then there's a big green "Buy Now" button on the right.

Yeah...it's a little weird...I wouldn't make it so inconvenient for the customer to buy stuff if that was my website, lol.

Then again...I guess it's a good idea on the company's part - you have to work a bit to get the hot deal, lol.

Good point... It almost looked as if they were trying to get you to check out all of the other wireless stuff too... and maybe you'll just end up passing up the item that is FAR...

I got mine today!

The adapter comes with a nifty swivel adapter, a CD, and an installation booklet. Basically you use the CD to install the drivers/software, plug the sucker into a USB port, input your network settings (mine's using WEP, so I put in my HEX key), and start surfing! This little beast found TWO wireless networks nearby...my other D-Link adapters can only see the one I set up. Muhahahaha!

I'm going to send the rebate off tomorrow. Thanks OP!

Edit: It's giving me about 60% signal strength and 50% signal quality...not bad considering I'm on the second floor on the other side of the house 😉

According to the last poster here this deal's more of a scam since chances you're never going to see that rebate. Think I'll wait for another deal to roll around.

Rebate is simple, and has worked for most.
The problem for some is receipt.
You "MUST" send in packing slip.
Not a copy of packing slip, but original packing slip.
If your package was rare, and didn't include the packing slip, call them, and they will send you another right away.

This "Hot Deal" has been going on for months, with 1000's of satisfied buyers.
This is also a good example of why reposts suck.
Original thread(s) have complete info on this rebate.
It is actually one of the quicker one, and arrives within 6 to 8 weeks.

Search for original thread.
You would have then read that packing slip is required.
