Wireless keeps Disconnecting

Basically I have a wireless network in my house. When I used to run linux, I had no problems what so ever. I stayed connected the whole time. But now when I use Windows, my connection seems to reset liek every 20-30 minutes, then would reconnect after a minute or two, which is very annoying. Any ideas to why this is happening? Not sure if there is a setting in windows thats doing that because it was working fine in linux.

I did uncheck 'enable authentification'. Thought it would help but didn't.

Any help is appreciated. I'm using SP2

what is your AP? I have a linksys WRTG54 v 1.1 and had some problems until I upgraded to the newest firmware.

Also how do you have your wireless network set up? Is it through the winXP wireless utility or the one that ships with the card

Check your router firmware like alent said. Could be a misinterpreted message or something from Windows to the router or vice versa.

It may be the Wireless Zero Config service in Windows. After you're connected, go into the control panel, administrative tools, and services. Scroll down almost to the bottom, pick Wireless Zero Config, and hit stop. That will stop it from periodically looking for new networks.

Curious to see if you've resolved the issue? I have similar problems with different hardware. Zero Wireless did NOT work.

I just had this problem on several routers in several separate networks. I turned off the wireless radio and now all my ported ethernet connections don't disconnect every second, but of course I don't get wireless connection anymore. It is clear that there is just too much interference in the area and it's really annoying.

Can anyone suggest a program that can detect wireless interference? This would help me reposition the wireless router?

Try using another channel. Move any cordless phones away from the AP. etc...

My mom had some problems with it disconnecting then reconnecting or reconnecting to the neighbor's network. I had her delete all the other profiles from her wireless zero config control panel except for her router. It cleared up her disconnecting problems.
