I'm excited. Now I can check all the NSFW things and I'll be the first to know what "goatse" and "Tub Girl" are!!!

just kidding. 😀 I already got those things explained to me and I have NO desire to check them out on the net. *blech*

Let us know when you make your own wireless access point. Then I'll welcome you to 2002. Until then, whatever. 😉

It's the piece of the wireless setup your computer connects to through the air.

MAC addresses can be changed, BTW. 😉

Isn't that just the router itself? (what are the separate units that they sell that are called wireless access points?)

Would I be ultimately secure in using wep in addition to the mac addresses?

It's the router. They also sell standalone WAPs. I built one since I didn't want to spend money on something I could make. 😉

There is no such thing as being secure. WEP helps, especially if you change your key every couple of weeks (or more if you don't use it all of the time).

i just got wireless, too. i love it! i can surf from the kitchen table while i eat, or stream audio to my stereo, or whatever. good stuff. i figure i'm relatively safe with WEP, MAC filtering, and no-SSID broadcast. there's unsecure networks elsewhere in my apartment complex so i doubt someone would bother with mine.

i love wifi. it's nice to watch tv or sports and have your laptop next to you looking at stats and etc.

wireless is great ,cheers for wireless, too bad you don't have G, but if not transfering files *meh, whatevers!*
