Wireless internet?

I am moving out to the boonies that doesn't have cable internet yet, so I was looking into wireless, what speeds should I look for, 256 kb/s, 512, or 1000 kb/s?
The 512 and 1000 kb/s are kinda pricy, but what would be the most efficient for internet gameplay?
Also, T-1 is costly right? how much is it usually, and what do you need to get it?

Wireless is NOT suitable for games. It's not uncommon to have pings 600ms or higher. You need landlines for that.

I assume you have also checked availability of DSL and ISDN? ISDN is only 128/128, but will provide good online gaming if that is your main concern. Prices vary wildly. Yes, a T-1 can be very expensive.

What wireless service are you looking at? Satellite is a non no for a gamer, but a local 802.11x service may not be too bad.

DSL is run through the phone lines right?
Also, I dont know much about isdn, what is it? and what do I need for it, like a cable running up to my house, or what?
Thanks
also, what is a 802.11x? I have no idea...

DSL runs on a phone line, often (ADSL) on the same wires as your normal phone line.

ISDN is kind of 1/12 of a T-1. 2 64K channels for a total of 128K. It comes in on the same type of wire as your phone line, but is separate. It can also be your phone line. The 2 64K channels can be either voice or data. It depends on what if anything is offered where you live.

I would check DSL first if you haven't done so.

What speeds should I be looking for for Upload speeds. I can handle slow dl speeds, but it seems like games require higher UL speeds.

Before you worry about the details, you need to find out if the service is available.

Find out who is the Telco where you are going, check their website to see if they offer DSL. Or, go -here-, enter the zip code and see if anything is available.

chances are if you can get isdn you can also get dsl, in which case you'd want dsl, ISDN pretty much blows unless it's your only option.
