Wireless internet loses connection

I've got a desktop and a laptop that both connect to a netgear wireless router.

Every so often the connection is gone. The status still says it is connected but it doesn't send or receive anything. Sometimes all it takes is turning the router off and back on but most of the time I have to turn off the modem, router and computer and restart them all.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

PS is it normal for the connection to not work while I am on the cordless phone and start back up the second I hang up?

What does it show in event viewer/log?
What other info does it give you?
