Now make a lawnmower that can be powered in a similar way by little kids

It's only controlling the direction and speed, not powering it. It's got some novelty value but that's about it. Funny though. I'd like to put my pet rat in that.
 
Wouldn't it eventually just fill up with hamster poop and weigh the whole device down?
