I tried plugging the receiver in another port, changing batteries, and reinstalling the drivers..nothing. On a lighter note, i have a wired gaming mouse coming in the mail soon. it's 1/5th of the price of the logitech. Hopefully it doesn't let me down. Any suggestions for the logitech g602? Is it a lost cause? I'm assuming now wireless gaming mouses are just bad. thoughts?

I've never been a fan of wireless mice, especially for gaming because they seem to stop working or run low on batteries at the most inopportune times.

Present-day wired mice generally have really long cords and aren't as flimsy as they used to be. It might be something to look into unless for some reason you just absolutely can't use a wired mouse.

Malfunctioning in what way? Talk to Logitech support? Heard they're pretty good with their support, although never needed help myself.

The G602 is a decent wireless mouse, although if you're doing anything more than casual gaming, the G700/G700S is vastly superior imo. Indistinguishable between wired and wireless, and if you really want it can be used wired as well.

I would try cleaning the optical thingamajig with a tiny bit of alcohol on a q-tip. Let it dry afterwards. Here are a few more things I found on the logitech site.

Troubleshooting
No pointer movement?

•
Make sure the power switch is on the ON position.
•Verify that the batteries still have available power and that they are
inserted in the proper direction.
•Restart your computer.
•Should you need to pair your G602 to the gaming receiver, download
the Logitech Connect Utility from www/logitech.com/downloads.

Erratic pointer movement or missed button clicks?

•Remove metallic objects between the G602 and the gaming receiver.
• If the receiver is plugged into a USB hub, try plugging it directly into the
computer instead.
• Move the receiver closer to the G602 by using the included receiver
extension cable.
• Try tracking on a different surface. Highly-reflective or transparent
surfaces, like glass, do not deliver good tracking results.

I'm glad it's working. I normally use a wired mouse but I bought a G602 for my mother on sale for $25. It seems like a really nice mouse.
