I know there are products already out that support wireless g standards. My question, is that has the standard been set yet? Or are these products beta phase and are waiting for the final g standards to be release?

The standard has not been ratified yet, these products are called "early adopters". Wait a week or two, the big guys are going to start releaseing their stuff.

It is in draft form right now. The IEEE will be voting on it in May, or thereabouts. Won't be ratified completely until the fall most likely. The stuff out right now is Broadcom chipset based. Intersil based hardware is forthcoming. The stuff you buy today will "likely" be firmware upgradeable to the standard once it is set. I would suggest, if you can't wait, you buy client and AP that are using the same chipset.
