Wireless g routers

Muse

Two questions:

1. I've got an ethernet LAN with two desktops. I just bought a Jetdirect j2550-60003 card for my HP4M printer so that I can set it up as a network printer with the desktops and my new Thinkpad 60 laptop, which has bluetooth and wireless g support built in. In order to have access to my network and internet wirelessly with my laptop, I need a wireless g router, right? Will any one do?

2. To set up my printer, do I just have to put the Jetdirect card in it and run a cat 5 cable to one of the inputs on my router (currently ethernet, but wireless g when I get one)? Will I need any drivers for that? I'm running Windows 2000 in my desktops and XP Pro on the laptop and Vista Business, when it comes out.

All you need to start a wireless network between your computers is a wireless g router, yes. Anyone will do, but if I were you I would stick with Netgear, Linksys, or Belkin, and avoid DLink. Netgear is especially user friendly if it is your first time setting up a network.

About the printer, I don't really know. If possible, I think the easiest way might be just to hook it up exclusively to one of the desktops (one that you have on all or most of the time) and then just add it through the network printer setup thing in Windows once your computers are networked.

Hopefully someone else will be able to give you better advice about the printer...
