Ok this pisses me off...the wireless G network I just setup (Microsoft MN700 and MN710 wireless USB) is almost twice as slow in file transfers as my old wireless B setup. (Microsoft MN500 and Speedstream wireless USB)
Before I swapped everything out, I copied 24.6MB of MP3s (7 total) - with the wireless B, it only took 55 seconds. My signal strength was low. With my signal strength at low with the new wireless G, the same 24.6MB of MP3s takes almost 2 minutes, if not more. I've tried copying it 4 different times.
I've tried putting it on wireless B mode, wireless G mode, turned on and off WPA, turned on and off MAC filtering, turned on and off auto-broadcast. I'm at wits end because I cannot for the life of me figure out why the hell a wireless G network is twice as slow as the wireless B network, when in reality it's supposed to be theoretically 5x faster. I've looked at almost every setting I can think of. I think right now I'm even getting better signal strength than before.
I don't know if this matters - I don't see why it would make it slower - but the wireless comp only has a USB1.0/1.1 port on it. I don't see why or if that would make things slower though.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance, sorry if I sound pissy - I can't believe it's twice as slow :|
