My dad wants wireless on his desktop. Guess he doesn't like where he sits anymore. Any suggestions for a cost effective wireless card?
 
I'm in the market for a wireless adapter for my desktop now that I moved to an apartment that doesn't have ethernet jacks in each room. I looked at the Edimax above but the shipping brings it to $31 or so. For $40 I can get a linksys, for $25 a trendnet, for $31 a d-link, etc. There are a lot of brands and items in this price range. What makes the EditMax or any other one stand out? I run Vista x64 if that makes a difference, and have a Buffalo router with DD-WRT installed.
 
The Edimax has good Radio.

It comes with Movable External Antenna, so it can be set for better signal propagation.

It has Drivers for all main stream OS,

Wireless Cards are Not Cars the brand name is meaningless, there are only few OEMs that manufacturer Radio chipsets, and every one buy from them and visually customize the OEM Drivers to their Brand.

If a company spends more money on marketing (which has No bearing what so ever on the technical quality of the device) like the top Brands do, the price is higher coz they need to compensate for higher marketing expense.

The radio is Very Good, the Antenna is plus, as well as the selection of drivers.
