My laptop has integrated wireless from an intel centrino setup. I recently purchased a wireless router to take advantage of this feature. I bought the D-Link DI-614+. Sometimes it works fine. Other times I couldn't view a website to save my life. This happens even when the wireless card is showing a excellent for a signal. I don't understand what the problem is. I was told it might be my browser so I downloaded Mozilla. But I get the same results with it as well. It very frustrating. At times I can't even check my mail on yahoo. Any ideas as to what the problem might be???

Thanks

All I can say is that I have the same problem with my Cable Internet. What I've done is is to use 4 different web browsers (Mozilla, FireBird, Netscape 7.1 and Internet Exploiter 6 (SP1)). Each of these browsers work better on some sites than others. It's a pain in the butt but, unfortunately, necessary. Give it a shot. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.:)

Make sure 22Mb/s is turned off on the D-link unless you have another D-Link 22Mb product in the house.

Making a bridge in XP Pro between my PC's network card and wireless network card seemed to work fine. My laptop could connect AdHoc and get an IP address assigned from my cable company (Who apparantly allows multiple IP addresses through a simple hub). Normal speed for the first 30 seconds and then it craps out with pings as high as 33 to 55 seconds. I tried asking, and no one could figure this out for me. If I used NAT and ICS it worked fine, but I couldn't play online games an such between my PC and laptop. Well, "worked fine" shouldn't be said about Belkin cards. They simply didn't work from even the next room even with my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I bought that and a Wireless-G PCMCIA card and got up to speed. To maintain unique routable IP addresses, I disabled DHCP and ran my cable modem wire to a normal port insead of the WAN port (The router has auto-crossover). Works great now. Damn conspiracy trying to force you to buy access point hardware grumble grumble grumble...

Odd. I have the exact same router with a Dlink 520+ PCI network card. The router is in my parent's study and the PCI wireless is in my comp. I get decent speeds. I haven't checked it fully yet, as I can't figure out how to set up file transferring between PCs. However, I can download fast. The cable modem is the limitation, and not the network card.

Make sure nothing is in from of the router. I used to have the cable modem on top of it, and my speeds were horrendous. Just moved the cable modem away, and it worked great. Better yet, keep the router 1-2 ft away from other devices.

Also, do you have all Dlink parts? All companies tend to make products that work best only with their own stuff.

The modem and the router are at least four feet away. The router is sitting on top of my computer stand and the modem is near the floor next to the tower.

I am not using a D-link wireless adapter. I am using the Centrino one that is built into the computer. Maybe that is the problem. It seems like this slowdown is somewhat recent. Maybe I am just used to the speeds I see at school. My who school is set up for wireless and it flies.

Perhaps I should call d-link and maybe they can provide some answers.
