Wireless Connection Dropping

I'm using a linksys B 2.4ghz wireless router so that I can have internet access in my room upstairs. The computer is about 8 feet up from the router and 15 feet over (about 35 total feet apart). My linksys wireless card says my signal from the router is "very good", but the connection keeps dropping when I play multiplayer games like day of defeat. I also can't figure out why I can't download any faster than 1mbps. On my computer hardwired into the router I can download at 3mbps. I called linksys and all that they can tell me is that maybe the signal is weak. Anyone have any ideas out there? Your help is appreciated.
 
The bandwidth has a lot to do with wireless overhead in addition to IP overhead. 1MB/s is close to what I get on 802.11b, but some have said it can get as high as 3 or 4.

This is just a hunch, but check for a firmware upgrade. I had the same problem you did on both a Linksys router and a Dlink router.
I did a firmware upgrade and it seemed to fix it.

If this isn't an option then I would just return it to the store and get one that works. 🙂
 
I tried that stuff. My signal isn't lost on any regular interval. It just seems to drop the signal when I play multiplayer games...and it's lagging the crap out of my diablo.

I've seen people have less lag on diablo with 56K than I do with my cable and wireless router setup. Something's not right.
