Wireless communications in the US are a freaking joke.

I'm currently on a pre-paid plan with verizon which is nearly useless since it only seems to work in Birmingham and Huntsville. So I thought maybe I'd see about getting a "real" plan so that I can at least have some roaming in case I need the phone while on the highway.

Is it true that verizon starts at $30/month and gives you basically nothing? And t-mobile grants you a wicked 60 minutes/month for $20. What is this? A joke? Am I missing something? Before anybody tells me to "leave if I don't like it" by God Canada doesn't pillage consumers on cellphone plans like this and I'm not paying $20/month for 2 damn minutes a day on my cellphone. Come on now!!!

Well I guess you don't have pre-paid verizon. Maybe I should call. I mean sure it hasn't worked in almost a year but damnit I hate calling customer service! Anyway really I'm not so annoyed at my useless pre-pay but the fact that cellphones here cost a lot.

Jesus Christ... I get like 600 anytime minutes, and unlimited night and weekends (and i think iget like 2000 mobile to mobile minutes) on two phones for about $6o/month.

And the only place my phone hasn't worked is at the bottom of a 3500ft mountian, 25 miles from the nearest real town, basically standing on a beach with that mountain between me and every possible place to put an antenna.

I'm sorry but prepaid sucks. T-Mobile and Cingular both have plans at $19.99 - however, very limited minutes (60/500 weekday/weekends) for T-Mobile and local service only with Cingular. All other providers start out at $29.99 but usually include LD, etc etc.

holy craP! i dont use my cell phone more than about 10 minutes a month!


i pay 15 cents a minute, no roaming charges, anytime, any place. it works well for me, i get away paying a couple bucks a month!


and the phone has a lifetime replacement warranty. god i hope it breaks soon, so i can get a newer, lighter phone

How much do you use your phone and how much are the minures?
I had a pre-paid phone from AT&T after my operation for 'just in case'. The phone was free and I bought a couple of refills at Staples with $20 off $50 or something like that. The cards were good for 90 days back then, so it worked out well for me.
