Does a 2.4GHz receiver require too much power to run on batteries?
I'm looking for wireless wall clocks for home.
The only ones I can find use a master clock transmitter and are priced for institutions.
I want to use my existing wireless network or a small USB transmitter on my computer.
It the clock keeps reasonable time by itself it would only need occasional syncing (daylight saving time).

Yes, I would think that 2.4GHz WiFi would take too much power to run on batteries cheaply. You could do it, but it would require a pretty big battery...

On the other hand, why not use one of the so-called "Atomic Wall Clocks" which use a signal transmitted by NIST across the country. They automatically adjust for DST and leap years and never need to be set.

Yeah, like pm says 'Atomic' clocks are abundant and cheap as chips.
