Wireless client issue

Up until yesterday, my wife's notebook had no problems getting onto our wireless network at home. Yesterday at work, her IT person took away her computer to install a bunch of stuff (trying to find out what said stuff actually is), and he wiped out all the wireless settings (WEP key and the like). So I figured - ok - I'll just put the settings back and it should be fine. Well, after fiddling with it and turning WEP on and off, switching channels, SSID's, etc - I can't get it to work. Here is what happens under all circumstances:

XP machine, by the way. Dell notebook. Wireless card is a Dell (shows up as a cisco in hardware profile).

If I put the card in, within a couple of seconds windows happily says my network is found. If WEP is on, it wants the key code. If it's not on, it just has a check box saying you understand about privacy, etc, etc. In either situation, as soon as I click "ok", or enter the key code and click "ok", windows immediately switches to "no wireless networks found". It will not find the network again until I reboot or pull the card out and put it back in. Process repeats every time.

I know the wireless router is working fine. I have my own notebook running off it with no problems. It was literally sitting right next to the first notebook with great signal strength, so I know the network is fully in range.

I'm stumped - and nothing I can find online relates to this specific issue. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
