Wireless Card Issues

My friiend is doing research in VT, and he is using the wireless card that came preinstalled on his Dell computer to attempt to connect to the wireless network of the car dealership adjecent to his apartment(The dealership give approval, hes being legit 😉 ).
Anyway he can see the network, connect to the network, recieve a strong signal and send packets, however he can not recieve any packets and when he attempts to use Internet Explorer or AIM it says the server can not be found. The wirless card was working previous to his leaving so I don't think that is the issue. However, the dealership people know nothing about the network as it was set up and configured by an outside company. So does anyone have any ideas on what it could be thats causing the problem? I tried the solution on the front page of Anand(Disable/Renable Wireless Zero Configuraton) but it didn't help. He is running Windows XP Pro, and as I said before, he could previously connect to wireless networks. Sorry I don't have more details but I'm trying to troubleshoot this over the phone and he isn't very good with computers 🙂.
Thanks for the help!

Here's a two page article that seems to address your problem as you describe it. It is two pages and there is a workaround at the bottom of page 2.

Good luck and let us know if this fixes your friend's problem. There may be others here having the same problem.

That didn't work 🙁. However it did solve an issue I have occasionally with my router 🙂. Anyone have any other ideas?
