Wireless card...drops/picks-up connection continuously!!!

I have a Linksys wireless router and a Linksys wireless adapter. Internet connection is stable as long as something is downloading continuously. If not, it drops and reconnects back every 1min. or so.
Would changing to a different card help solve the issue? What's some general good ones that work with Linksys routers well?
Could it be that the router is bad also?

Change the channel your router is broadcasting on. Maybe other people in your area are saturating the airwaves with duplicate channels
