Wireless card dropping internet connection

It seems that when my wireless card DWL - 520+ is under heavy use, its drops connection to the internet. It still has signal strength, but the "internet connection" icon under network connections disappears and i cant access anything on the internet. It happens randomly, sometimes it will go hours before dropping, othertimes only 5 minutes. Its really frustrating because the only way I have found to fix it is to disable the wireless connection and then re-enable it. I have tried to change drivers, but it doesnt seem to have worked. Anyone else encounter a problem like this?

edit - btw the signal strength stays at a constant Very Good @ 11mbps. the router is the D-Link Extreme G version. 624 model maybe?

try using the software that came with the wifi card. Windows's XP has built in wifi software (zero config i think it is called). Well zero-config sucks. Drops connections all the time.

Also change the channel that the router is werking on. There maybe other radio Frequencies in the area that are interfearing with the signal. Also move away from large metal objects like file cabinants and metal tables. They can ghost and attenuate the signal which can cause a connection drop..

i hope this helps.

also try to update the windows mahicne. (windows update).
