Wireless AP help

hi my name is bob and i'm an adict. Oh wait wrong fourm sorrry.
Anyway I have a Linksys router conected to a DSL line(no modem). I have DHCP enabled on the router. I connected a Belkin Wireless Access point to it and put a belkin PCI card in my XP computer. I was able to connect to the AP through a LAN connected computer and configure the IP address of it and the encryption. On the XP computer I put the card in and it detects the network I was able to put in my encryption key and it says the connection is good. I can't pull up any web pages or conect any chat progs and such. I tried DHCP and manual connect neither worked. When I tried DHCP XP had some crazy ip that wasn't close to mine range. All this time the wired comps are fine. Any ideas??? TIA
 
Wait..does the linksys come with a DSL modem built in?

What was that "crazy" ip .....? Did it start with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx?


Also, can the other PC connect to the internet in this configuration?

No on the modem... my DSL comes from the street to my box (on the side of my house) and from there to an ethernet port which I have pluged into my WANin my router. I know there are about 6 different types of DSL and a few years back the phone Co. ran fiber in my neighborhood. The ip was close to mine except the second third set of number in(xxx.xxx.this one .xxx). I only have one PC that is using the wireless method the rest are wired.

Make sure that the Belkin IP is the of the same band as the Linksys/

I.e. if the Linksys is 192.168.1.1 the Belkin should be 192.168.1.x

Disable the DHCP on the Belkin.

Start with WEP and every thing else Disable.

Ok this time a brought a laptop with a d link usb adapter in it. I reset the security so the airwaves were wide open. The laptop picked everything up fine. The other computer had the same old problems. I can ping the AP just fine but I can't ping the router. I even mover the card to a different PCI slot. I hooked up the Dlink wireless adapter and I had the same problems. I also made sure all firewalls were disabled. The only thing left is a software or hardware conflict. I'm stumped. :|
