wireless and wardriving

i don't really know a whole lot about wireless, so how does a person go about protecting them selves from war driving and what not

my friend has a wireless router in her house, but isn't using the wireless function, so how could i make sure no one gets in or uses her connection?

Aside from that, I'd vote for disabling the SSID broadcast and using WPA or WEP to help prevent access from the outside.

ok, those are all very good ideas.... but how do i do that?
Since you are Now Knowledgeable you can read the Router?s Manuel and disable it.

Hard for us to Guess what your friend has!

What are some programs one could use to "wardrive?" I'm trying to position my wireless router in a place with least interference... So far, I can only recall using Boingo.

Use WPA. If you can not, then use WEP ( I advise against it and get what u need to to allow WPA).

SSID broadcast disabling and MAC filtering are worthless.
