wireless adapter suggestions

Hello,

I'm looking for a wireless adapter that fits in a notebook slot. I'm looking for good range, stability, sensitivity, and external antenna slot. Can anyone give me some suggestions as well as suggestions for an external antenna?

Thank you very much,
Horace

Linksys is nice, and has a replaceable antenna.

What type of antenna are you looking for? There are many many types... and are you sure you even need it? The stock ones are usually ok.

Please specify the type of notebook slot. The most common is PCMCIA (Cardbus). But some new laptops only have Express/34 and Express/54 slots. They are not all interchageable. This is going to cause a lot of grief in the next year or two. Also - when you say "wireless," . . . what are you referring to? Wi-fi? EVDO broadband, etc.? They are very different.

Example - my notbaook has built-in wireless (wi-Fi), and that only works where there are Wi-Fi hot spots. But - I have a Sprint PCMCIA EVDO Cardbusconnection card that works anywhere in the Sprint network. Verizon has theirs and AT&T/Cingular has theirs. They are none of them interchageable.

And, external antennas depend on whose network you are signed up with. We're talking nominally 50 bucks a month for unlimted use.

So, who do you intend to sign up with for access?
