Wireless adapter in Linux

Hey guys, im trying to hook up a wireless adapter to my computer that runs linux. Since im new to this I have no idea how to do this. Are there any websites that can help, or does anyone have good advice for this? thanks

not really sure. I know that it is a linksys wireless B adapter. Im not sure what chipset they use.

Linksys G cards use Broadcom chips; I'm not sure about the B ones.
Broadcom is known to not realse their code for Linux driver development so good luck.

I recommend Atheros-based cards. Well supported by linux (or the other way around).

Ive plugged it in and nothing happened. I dont know where to go from there. I also do not want to buy a new adapter

First try running lspci, even if it's on the PCMCIA bus it should show up there in recent kernels.

I don't recommend Atheros-based cards, they require a binary-only HAL to be loaded into the kernel.
