Wireles problems..

I have been using a belkinwireless g router, all was fine untill a week age. It started disconecting from dsl modem every time we had heavy usage. Today I got a good deal on a dlink di-524 (is this a good router?),

I have it up and running fine except for my lappy. It knows the wireless is there (not by name) but says it cannot connect to it. I have all firewall and wep off, and have retried to repair connection many times. What is the problem, with my belkin it just connected automaticly, mabye I am doing something wrong. So I come to the experts!
