wired versus wireless

Having a internet cablemodem 1 Mb connection, I want to make a 2 PCs net, and I am in doubt about make it wired or wireless.- I wish to know if installing a D_Link model DI-624, G 108 Mbps wireless router should give me the same performance and stability of a wired system.- I have been told that due to the limitation of my cable connection bandwidth, there should be no difference, is it so ?
Should I look for 108 Mbps or 54 Mbps is OK for online gaming and P2P downloading ?
Is that D-Link router a good choice ?
Thanks

Regular Internet surfing would be the same.

Games, in nost cases it would be the same, however Wire would be better in some cases.

p2p would be better with wire.

I would recommend wired for gaming. Mostly its because you will need a solid stable connection. Regardless of how strong your wireless signal is, you will always be susceptible to interferences. The other issue is regardless of how fast your wireless connection is, it will always share its bandwidth among all wireless users.

If the PCs are in the same room or somewhere that running a cable would be very simple, then go wired. It's a faster connection, more stable, less latency, etc. But if wiring them woudl be lots of work and not easily done, then go wireless. Wire the main PC to the router and have the other one be the wireless connection.

Of course if you plan on doing streaming data from one to the other or transferring large files or anything like that, then definitely go wired if possible. Or just try wireless and see if you like it. You can always run a cable later.
