XP has built in zip support.
*nix uses a different format all together.
Mac OS X .gz or one of their proprietary formats just fine, but handles .zip out of the box.

I can't believe there is still a market for winzip.

Not all people have XP.

Also, the ability to create a Zip EXE file may be useful to some people.

When multitudes are comfortable with the product, they are leary of changing to something unknown.

i used to use winzip til i needed to open a rar. then i found powerarchiver and never looked back.

Even though I posted this, I've stayed away from winzip since about ver.6 (I believe). I've been using PowerArchiver since.

naw, i wasn't that hot on winrar. i'm quite happy with powerarchiver, it opens everything and only cost 20 bucks (as opposed to 30, yes 10 bucks is a lot of money!).
