Lex Luthor, I don't think you are missing anything. The original poster, however...different story.

I bow humbly to the senior member.
I, too, may one day be a senior member if the tech board is willing and then maybe I will see nothing new under the sun.
I must assume you were being constructive. May I infer since you have had winzip8 for six months it is a good upgrade? Or that a new version is coming soon and it would be better to wait?
As I have mentioned previously, my Sony is the first pre-loaded system I have had and it did not have Win-zip on it! My old system had an older version....I saw the evaluation copy and thought this might be an upgrade for some people, not just me.

"What's Winzip?" sarcasm. Its ok to be a newbie, we all were once. How about next time just doing a little research, and look around, before you make yourself "Look" like a newbie. Keep us posted on a newer version, but probably not in this forum. TY.

PowerArchiver 2000 is totally free and probably a better utility.
"built-in compression for ZIP(including Quake III PK3, JAR - JavaARchiver, OWK and REP files), CAB, LHA (LZH), TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 and BH (BlakHole), ...
built-in decompression for ZIP, CAB, LHA, RAR, ACE, ARJ, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, ARC, ZOO, BH, ...
built-in support for XXE and UUE encoded files
multi-volume ("disk spanning") archives for ZIP format
self-extracting archives ("sfx") for ZIP, RAR, ACE, ARJ, LHA and BH formats
easy-to-use interface with many customizable options, drag & drop support, full integration with Windows Explorer using Explorer Shell Extensions, ...
lot of tools like for converting archives, repairing archives, spanning archives, ...
skinnable toolbar (don't forget to visit "Toolbar Skins" selection)
and many, many more powerful and practical features ..."

cloudchief,

Good info on PowerArchiver. I switched to it a while back. I didn't know there was a 2000 version. It is slower than winzip, but free more than makes up for that.

this must be another typo. just keep this quiet and we will all be able to get in.
Don't post this to other boards, if you remember what happened with the 21in monitor, etc.
and, as always, if the "company" renegs on the deal, Class Action Lawsuit !!!.

I wonder how many "Hot Deals" we miss out on because some poor lurker here is too afraid to be flamed, or says "Forget them... they don't deserve it". :p

LOL, this is funny. People are flaming and my name isn't included in any posts. ygreenkitty, Winzip is free and evaluation version will always be free. It doesn't qualify as a hot deal.
