WinXP - standby option in shutdown menu disappeared

Just as it says in the title, the standby option in the shutdown menu disappeared after some driver installation. This driver was Mirascan 3.XX for Acer Scanprisa 640P on Winxp. I uninstalled it later but it didn't uninstalled completely and gave error at end of installer.
How can I get the standby option back without reformatting the HD and reinstalling the OS(winxp)? If any other queries please ask to help me solve this problem.

I thought WinXP included the drivers for mobo. When I installed WinXP, it didn't ask for the driver cd. Rather it had drivers with microsoft as provider and theyworked fine. Never gave me a problem. This probably has something to do with the scanner drivers which weren't uninstalled successfully.
Any other suggestions?
