WinXP SP1 Final has been leaked!

I know one AT member that has it installed already, and I`ve been downloading now on 56k for ages,ETD 3hrs for me,anyway he said he had no problems with the SP1 install 🙂.

I'm really behind on this SP1 stuff.. so if I have most of the updates on windows update.. then what do I need this for?

plus Im on an activated OEM copy so I hope theres no problem with that

Dude, you helped me more than you think with your post! I can't download JACK from MS using Windows update. I was going to wait for SP1 on Sept 9th but I'm having system issues NOW! Hopefully SP1 will take care of my problems. Thanks dude! Downloading now and should be done in a few minutes. 😀

Got it installed on 56k so do I get a medal, was the longest download ever 😉,no problems but it took awhile to install etc,not surprising since it`s a major update.

🙂

43MB to go (1Hr 45 Mins) 🙁

What is included in this SP1 as it is 133MB? All the Windows Updates only comes to about 55MB excluding the .NET stuff!! Does it have WMP9 included? This is taking forever...

Heres a better download location if your in the UK. I'll wait a bit b4 I post it...lol.....can't have you lot keeping me up any later than necessary can I 😛

Have had it installed for about an hour, and no problems yet. It is definitely the final from what I can see. Displays Service Pack 1 like it should. Fixed my USB 2.0 problem I have had in the past right up.

If anyone installs this post back and let us know if it is really the final version. I have a damn 56k and have been waiting for the final. Don't want to download the 120+ mb file every time a beta comes out :/

DukeFan21 over at WinBeta it says
Yep folks, once again WinBeta has done it (like your surprised).

WinXP SP1 Build 1106 Final is now available on your one and only IRC channel for your loading pleasure. Not much info on it yet, as it was just leaked, other than no timebomb on this baby and an integrated version is soon to follow, but stay tuned for the more goodies and info on it.

As stated on many sites today, Microsoft Corp. today announced the release to manufacturing of Windows® XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), a package of updates for Windows XP, the company's most advanced and fastest-selling Windows licenses. Windows XP SP1 brings enhanced security, reliability and compatibility to business and home users. Windows XP Service Pack 1 will be available to the general public Monday, Sept. 9.

But, an inside source has reported to WinBeta that the final build will be 1106.

With all the recent rumors and speculation floating around, we dug deep into our recources and got the scoop.

We hope to bring our dedicated friends, followers and partners 1106 before Sept. 9, but once again, don't hold me to that. 🙂

Heres the UK link I mentioned....I'm done. Gunna install it now. I will of course report back.

[edit]

It installed fine and looks completely legitimate. 😉

Weee off to 4+ hours of 56k downloading goodness 😀

I have had it installed since yesterday afternoon. I had no issues before or after installation, so I really can't see any difference. I imagine that some security holes have been patched, which is always good. 😉

i just hope that they fixed those nagging 'freezing of Explorer' (taskbar) when i play w/ IE ... god that is annoying..

Got it installed, seems to be running well. I put it through the usual paces.

If you have an AMD chip I recommend that you go into Device Manager and "Update Driver", let it automatically find the new driver for you. For some reason it doesn't get updated during the SP install. (I checked the driver details and it actually copied in a new file and asks you to reboot)

Also, I got this error when running defrag analysis from the Computer Management main window:

Faulting application mmc.exe, version 5.1.2600.0, faulting module dmview.ocx, version 2600.0.503.0, fault address 0x00002c44.

Could just be a fluke since I can't reproduce it, but it had never happened before since I had XP retail installed on Oct. 25, 2001.

You`re right about there being an AMD cpu update(even after SP1 is installed),my XP 1700+ driver got updated and I had to reboot, btw my friend has a 900 T-bird and there was no update for his cpu,so I think it`s just for AMD XP processors,I also tried the defrag analysis and that was fine,so probably just a fluke with yours.

🙂

I just uninstalled it. Crashed my computer twice already. I don't know why my comp is weird with it, but there is no need for me to update. I don't have USB2.0, and thats the biggest deal to me so far.

Mem, I'm pretty sure that's correct, the update is just for XP processors (Palomino, Tbred etc.) and probably Duron processors based around the Morgan core.

Can someone explain to me why I would want to install this now and not wait until it is officially released? How sure are you this version isn't trojaned? That MS will change something last-minute?

Do you people warez your anti-virus programs too??
