WinXP Shell?

In what file does WinXP have a pointer to what shell to use (ie explorer.exe)? I'm trying to find it because I messed things up and now my system loads to a blank desktop 🙂 I checked System.ini, but it didn't have anything about

Shell=.......

Also is explorer.exe stored in the usual place

C:\windows\system\explorer ?

Thanks!

That's the whole point of that shell extry in system.ini. To get back to you cheerful and awful M$ shell. Make sure that shell entry read as

shell = explorer.exe

Save the system.ini file.

and reboot and see you desktop
