I have a new gigabyte ga-7vxrp mb and 2 fresh maxtor d740l hdds 40gigs each for the raid array.
I set up the array, and inserted the winxp disc in the cd rom to start set up, and it said there is no hdd, so setup cannot continue.
Any ideas/workarounds?

thanks in advance...Nagas

Chances are, XP doesnt have a built in driver for your RAID controller. You need to get the drivers on a floppy disk, and press f6 when prompted during setup. This will allow you to install a RAID/SCSI driver before setup starts.

tried that. installed the fastrack 100 drivers, still no hdd further on thru setup. thinkin maybe i botched something in the bios, gonna go check that out. i get to the fastbuild utility and the array is recognized there, but in the bios under the standard cmos features, it doesnt recognize the array in the primary master or primary slave headings, but the cd-rom is recognized....hmm stumped.

think i got it figured out, apparently the raid controller won't recognize the unformatted hdd, so i am formatting both hard drives individually on the primary non raid ide slot, and then will try to make an array after they are formatted and go from there.

no, they do not have to be formatted... You need to RTFM.

you must hit F6 and install the drivers beofer the kernel is loaded so you can install to those drivers... dont wait specify drivers when it asks, because thats too late.
