winxp screen shot 350k

beta 2, and it seems stable enough to use. require a little more memory than win2k if you multitask. also comes with media player 8; OE 6.0; IE 6.0. it also seem to be faster with my cable modem, though not for sure.

Nice. I'm still plenty ticked that the Personal version won't support dual procs but I do like the new look (though most people don't, but they have been pretty good about putting in the "classic" settings as an option).

Ye' gods that is an fugly interface. More ram than win2k, but only if I want to multitask? How nice of them. Maybe I could get by on half a gig.....sheesh 🙂

I agree with soybomb, im perfectly happy with win2k GUI, that xp gui looks like it was made for a 4 year old and i dont know i could use that day in and day out.

i'm not 4, but i really like the new interface. i always prefer bright and colorful interface instead of dark and simple one. it looks more happy and less depressing, me think.

What's so dark and depressing about Win2k's interface? 🙂

Win2k is MS' best OS thus far IMHO. I concentrate on trying to crash it (and failing miserably), than trying to compare the "colors" of the GUI with MaxOSX 😉

Theres no way I could look at that all day, thank gawd I dont have to... Nice touch there with the remote control of another desktop..... HACKER HEAVEN built right in.

SHUX

Im running a AMD Athlon machine with Windows 2000 and I have had no problems.
The best MS OS yet. I agree that XP looks too Macish.

well get use to it because thats the way its gunna be, if u dont like it turn the skin off or use a different skin, there are more then one ya know, but most of you seem to think it's just going to look like that "toys r us" or whatever. fact is it's going to look that way from here on out with all the os's they release and thats that.

Oh well, I have seen better multitasking with 1Mb of RAM than W2k does with 512Mb and that whistler seems to need even more ? What the hell those guys are calling multitasking at all ? IMHO WinXP's GUI is kinda frustrating and looks stupid. 5-year old kiddies sure gonna love it but is this really "proffesional" like M$ claims ? Why M$ said that Back Orifice and Netbus are bad when they are integrating those on their own products ?

64Bit versions and X86 Sever versions do not have luna (New ui).

Remote desktop can be disabled and requires you know the username/password for an authorized user when it is on. No more risk than if a cracker/hacker/anyone had your admin password which would be about the same as having root access on linux box.

Oh and that is not beta 2, since beta 2 has not been declared yet. let alone the fact that 2428 is over TEN builds old.

XP will be/is better than Win2K, but there will be people who will stick with Win2K just like there was/are people who stuck with Win95.

I like the new UI, not because it is sooo cool, but because I needed a change from the Win95 look after 5 years of the same basic thing its nice to have a change.

It does look like Win2K with some kiddied-up WindowBlinds GUI.

Does this mean that us Win2K users will be abandoned for driver support? Hell, I finally got everything working together correctly only a few months ago. I can't afford to upgrade all of my software every 2 years.

Let's pass a law that anything M$ makes can only be upgraded every 5 years - with FREE SP updates during that time.

(m): Actually XP and 2k use the same drivers, so 2k should actually see an increase in driver support when XP is released.

Aaron1982: I know you can't seriously believe this is how it will be from here on out? This is how the interface will be for a few years at most and then they'll change it again. It just wouldn't be seen as acceptable for them to be running Luna in another 10 years (would seem like they haven't been doing anything. of course some would say that now, but that's another story 🙂)

Best screen shot I've seen yet. I'm a big fan of Win2k. I'm dual booting my computer with WinME so I can play UT at 1600x1200x32 at 65+ fps.

I doubt that WinXP will allow me game at that high performance. I probably won't bother with upgrading to XP until since WIN2K is the most stable OS that I've run.

<< well get use to it because thats the way its gunna be >>

Wow thats nice you're so understanding. Some of us feel like if we're paying we should get what we want, not what M$ is so gracious to give us. Luckily I don't have to use windows much 🙂

The one nice thing I can say about the interface is that now I can finally run at 1600x1200 without everything being way too small.

whoever took this screen shot must of had a 21 inch moniter. in the system properties screen under system why does it say Microsoft windows 2000? I don't know about u but if i had a 1.2gig tbird i would have more than 128 mb of ram.
