From the register: WinXP RC1 leaks on web as fast MS download

<< The instant Microsoft releases a new build of the WinXP beta it gets warezed all over the web - this is well-known, and has been well-documented. But RC1 code available to all and sundry on a high-speed Microsoft download partner connection? That's original, isn't it?

At time of writing (afternoon UK time, 4th July) WinXP RC1 code was available as a download from Conxion, without any kind of password protection or validation. The Register's sources indicate that it's been possible to get the code from there since at least last night, and chatter on various bulletin boards suggests that information on how to download it has been slowly spreading for rather more than 24 hours.

That is because Microsoft leaks it out. They always have. A lot of stuff can be found on the web before the official release from Microsoft.

and don't be lazy - be proactive - i'll only answer pm's... of course... i won't give any information, as this is highly illegal, but if you ask... 😉

look at all the lurkers come out of the woodwork. Nothing like warez to pique an interest in posting.

Edit: And I'm sure that there will be quite a few of you installing and loving it after bashing XP's interface in other threads.

If you think about it, it's a smart thing right? April was when the article was written. The more coverage MS gets early on, the more people they have using it when they launch. Good thing? I think so. Oh yeah, its ISO like the article says.

-edit-
I used a userid and password in order to DL.

don't use a download manager, you need to use the program shown in that thread to get it. My hard drive is hurting like a mofo after that one (489 MB...cough)

Geez, it works!

I did find a download manager which could change its Agent protocol. But I can't list its name here. You need go figure it.

It's a surprise. I was downloading that ISO in 120kB/s before I stopped.

Anyway, I'm not going to risk myself to pull this sucker. Nice try though.

🙂

<< yeah I got it yesterday. but I'm registered with MS. >>

Same here, only I got it the day before yesterday.

Obviously I am not doing this or condoning it, but let me ask a HYPOTHETICAL dumb question.
After we get the iso, do we burn it to a disk and then install it?
