WinXP Pro: Proper way to delete an extra user?

When installing Windows XP Pro, I was forced to create a username. The username "Administrator" was not allowed; so I created the username "Default" and continued with the installation. Afterwards, I installed TweakUI from Powertoys for WinXP (which was removed from Microsoft's download site a long time ago after a new, still unreleased, version was promised). http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

In TweakUI, under the "Logon" options, I checked the option:
'Show "Administrator" on the Welcome screen'

Also available was an option allowing me to hide the user "Default" from the Welcome screen.

I have been using "Administrator" as my only logon. However, I would like to know how to properly delete a user. I dug through the options, and couldn't find anything. It is possible that the option was not available because both users are considered the Administrator, but I probably just don't know where to look. I deleted the folder, but the name "Default" still appears on the Welcome screen. Selecting it, simply recreates the user with default settings (as if a new user had been created).

How do I delete an extra username in Windows XP?

Nevermind, It won't let me remove administrator privilidges from "Default" so that I can delete it.

If anyone knows a way around this, let me know. Why does MS not want anyone to use "Administrator" as a primary/single user?

I believe that XP requires at least ONE user account, besides admin, that has admin priviliges. I don't think you can remove all the accounts and have just admin.

If you want to auto login as admin, check out this post:

Auto Login

If I use TweakUI to hide the other user, it will automatically log in as administrator, so Autologin is not a problem. I just wanted a way to properly delete the user. There is no way, so I guess I will just leave it hidden using TweakUI and delete the user directory.

I'm not sure I understand the question, I have not used TweakUI. Can you go into the built-in administrative tools and see what is listed in Users and Groups?

I checked it out and it allowed me to delete the user! 🙂

Now the only user on my computer is "Administrator"
The way I tried before was by clicking Start>(UserPicture)>Back>Back and looking through the options
Apparently, it was a dumbed-down way to delete users.

Thanx!
