When installing Windows XP Pro, I was forced to create a username. The username "Administrator" was not allowed; so I created the username "Default" and continued with the installation. Afterwards, I installed TweakUI from Powertoys for WinXP (which was removed from Microsoft's download site a long time ago after a new, still unreleased, version was promised). http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
In TweakUI, under the "Logon" options, I checked the option:
'Show "Administrator" on the Welcome screen'
Also available was an option allowing me to hide the user "Default" from the Welcome screen.
I have been using "Administrator" as my only logon. However, I would like to know how to properly delete a user. I dug through the options, and couldn't find anything. It is possible that the option was not available because both users are considered the Administrator, but I probably just don't know where to look. I deleted the folder, but the name "Default" still appears on the Welcome screen. Selecting it, simply recreates the user with default settings (as if a new user had been created).
How do I delete an extra username in Windows XP?
