WinXP Pro Installation Problem - random files missing?

Here's the scoop:

I recently upgrade my own computer. I decided to use the parts from my old computer to upgrade my mom's computer (motherboard, video card, CPU, and ram only). After I've installed all the parts, I set all the jumpers and powered it on to start up reformatting/installing win xp. I used the same cd that I just used on my new computer, but for some reason, this computer will get to around 86% finished copying files, then load up a screen that says something along the lines of "missing xxxxxx.dll, please make sure the cd is in the tray".

I've tried to reinstall numerous times, and it varies as to when this will pop up. Sometimes it's at 2%, others as far as 88%, and the file missing is different almost every time. I've tried changing out ram and reformatting more times, and changing win XP cds, but it still comes up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my system specs for the comp:

P4 2.4GHz CPU
ECS P4VXASD2+
2x512mb PC2100 DDR ram
30gb hard drive
1 cd rom drive
1 cd rw drive
floppy drive
unsure of specs on PSU

Hehe yeah, I've tried them both, used different win xp pro cds as well in each. The weird part is that it does it at random files (so inconsistent) erg...

It could be the hard drive is going bad since XP actually copies 90% of the files to the hard drive before the installation. Run the hdd mfg diag program on that drive. Also, did you format in NTFS using WinXP setup?

Hmm.. it is an old HDD so I'll try running that. Yeah, I formatted in NTFS during the setup. Thanks for the advice, will try it tonight.
