can someone e-mail me a copy of this from your windows/system32 folder?

mine flakes out it just sits there, I ran it for 24hrs with no change, but it uses all the system processor even after I cancel it, so I have to end process in the task manager. I don't have a back up copy and don't want to reload all of windows because of one file.

Thanks in advance for any help....

and so I don't get bombarded with several copies, post in here that you sent it to me please,
Thanks,
Doug

my e-mail addy

edit: typo

i doubt that this is your only problem since most system files are protected and can't be screwed with.

ahh, but everything else works perfectly, I kinda suspect that file got bit by a virus and my viruscanner clobbered the file when cleaning the virus.

this is what comes up on technet btw.
technet = support.microsoft for folks who know what they are doing.

well excuse me for trying to help...maybe if you had made a mention that you tried other methods, i wouldnt be posting something you already know....thats why its in the details.

there is a system restore in win XP. maybe u can try it if u still have any other problem.

start-->all program -->accesorries--> system tools---> system restore.

it can restore your pc to a few days before. maybe before your pc screw up.
but one of the cons is, you will lost all the data, u done after that day.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that isn't true. You only lose system settings, etc, it doesn't touch your personal documents.

nope...shouldnt have deleted your mp3 files unless of course they were in a program files directory that got wiped because of the restore. either way, anytime you mess with sys level stuff you should back up
