WinXp Pro boots into a blank blue screen....

Blue screen of death redux?

I dunno. But when I run chkdsk it's fine. When I boot normally, hangs on Blue. I'll do a system restore waaay back to when it was running normally, reboot, and BAM

It's a Tbred 1.4GHz that I had OCed to 1.65 pretty stable running folding. I declocked everything back to base speeds and I'm still getting this error, so I doubt that it is heat, voltage, or OC related.

ANy ideas on what programs to run in safe mode?

I'd start with booting to safe mode and reloading your video drivers.

display properties => settings => advanced => adapter => properties => Driver => update driver.

Don't let windows search for a driver... no => display list.... => have disk => browse to your driver (either it is on your install CD or a set you downloaded)

Hmmm...I do get the Knight Rider screen OK...would this mean it's still a display driver issue perhaps? I DID try a different Graphics card recently....

I also think it may be related to uninstalling MBM, though I'm not sure.

I think I will go back to the display adpater I knew worked, and go from there. Thanks for the tip.

Also note that after a system restore, it does function fine until the next restart.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, by reinstalling the AGP card (I had a PCI in there) the prolems are gone. Now just time to screw around with the OC settings again 🙂

Thtanks!
