WinXP, OEM and licences

In the process of building 5 PCs for friends. They all want WinXP and they all want their PCs as cheap as possible. I have all of the hardware down, but I'm looking at the $90/OEM XP disk and thinking to myself there has got to be an easier way. So, doing some research I have come to the conclusion that if I purchase the OEM CD and 5 licenses, I'll be saving myself around $135. I purchase the CD, but I use the licenses on each of my friends PCs. If there is ever a problem I can run over w/ the OEM CD if I need to repair it.

Is my thinking right or am I just peeing into the wind?

You are thinking fine. I have been wanting to get an XP Pro license for awhile now.

Where did you see them for $90? I saw a few licenses for $93, but they lacked CDs. For a CD, they wanted $130... screw that!

I had a friend send me the XP Pro OEM cd, I plan on purchasing a license for it soon, and hope that will work.

Be careful that the license you are paying for will work for the OEM cd. I have seen a few places that say "license doesn't work on oem cds" or something like that.

you can not buy additional MS OEM lic only,MS says that OEM ad lic are not avail /or do not exist.

you can buy retail xp cd and ad retail lic,my math says it is not worthwhile costwise.

OEM 5 packs are avail though. {comes with CDs & Lic }
