I have my music shared on my xp pro box that i would like my win98 machine to access it without having to enable the guest account. I though i read somewhere there was a way to do it with windows 2000 but cant rememeber how it was done, and was wondering if it would work with windows xp. The machines are networked through workgroup not domain if that helps any

You need to go into Control Panel, and Use the User Account tool on your XP machine to add the user in which you will type in when you log into the Win98 machine. If it automatically logs in then you will just need to type this user name and password when accessing the share.

After you create the user you need to apply the proper permissions to the share you created so that when you use that user name and password to access your XP machine from your Win98 machine it will have the correct rights to get in.

Whatever username you use to log into Win98, create an account for in WinXP.

Be sure to give your Win98 user a password... you cant connect to an XP share without your Win9x user having a password.
