I just installed WinXP SP2 on my DFI LanParty Ultra-D. The current drive, WD2500KS, doesn't support NCQ. I haven't yet installed Nvidia's IDE drivers so currently I'm using the stock MS drivers.
Q. I'm going to install a new drive that supports NCQ (Western Digital WD3200KS). Will I have to reinstall WinXP SP2 for it to recognize NCQ, or do I only need to install the Nvidia IDE drivers at this point?
Q. Are there problems with NCQ or the nForce IDE drivers when overclocking?
I've heard back and forth on this but nothing conclusive. By default Nvidia prompts you NOT to install the drivers when installing the nForce drivers. This is why I've never installed them. But now that I'm going to install a drive that supports NCQ, I'm considering installing them.
