Hey all,
ever since i got my broadband fiber optics connection (TEPCO's the company name), which i hafta manually connect to the internet, Winxp does a scan of the Local area connection on startup and tells me i have limited or no connectivity, even though i have the cable connected to the modem (when i had DSL before it instantly recognized it w/ no probs). This alone does'nt pose a problem because i can still connect to the internet when i click my TEPCO broadband icon, but it takes WinXP about 2-4 minutes to do this scan @ which time i can't use my computer or connect to the net. If i disable my LAN port in the bios WinXP does'nt do any such scan and upon starting i can instantly use my computer, but i can't connect to the net because TEPCO uses the LAN port. When i try to do a repair, WINXP says "renewing your IP address", but it times out and says it cannot renew my address so it couldnt repair the problem.:
How can i tell WINXP not to do that silly scan @ startup or how can i resolve this issue? thanks in advance for any help.
