Ok, ill attempt to install winxp professional sp1 oem, but whenever i try to install it, it says installing network, and with about 30 minutes left, it ALWAYS reboots. I installed it once, but the computer rebooted when trying to load winxp (startup). So i formatted it, and repartitioned the space (NTFS). Now, it stops in the middle of the install, asks for the CD key, and cdkey alone (it should ask for everything, time, name, etc.)

Repartitioning, and formatting do not work. Im running a dual p3 with 1 gig of ram.

Any help please?

Thanks

So what happens after you input the CD Key? Anything? Also, provide us with some hardware info, particularly your LAN card and whether it's on-board or not.

Sometimes, when i input the cd-key, it will ask me for the timezone, and sometimes begins to install the network, but then reboots. Sometimes, ill enter my name and organization, and then it will spontaniously reboot in the middle of entering this information. It depends. About the network, i dont think that is at fault. It isnt onboard LAN, i have a netgear fa311 network card. here are my motherboard specs if that is at fault.

If you're getting random reboots, it could be heat, memory, or even your network card. Try installing XP on a barebone system, without any expansion cards other than your VGA card, one hard drive, and if it works, then at least you've narrowed it down to your cards. Then just add them one by one until you find the culprit. Anyways, this sounds more like a hardware than a software issue. Make sure your motherboard isn't shorting out anywhere.

Random reboots during setup are almost always hardware-related.

In my experience, they're almost always power-related too. Try swapping out your PSU for one that's more highly rated and try again.

Good luck.
