winXP install error

i'm trying to reinstall XP, but every time i do, i get an error while installing the setup files (after the reformat) that says "Setup cannot copy the file: mfc40u.dll" however, it's not just this file, it will be several files while trying to install the setup files. sometimes i can keep retrying and that will eventually work, but usually they just won't copy. i've used two different copies of the XP cd as well as two separate CD ROM drives.

if anyone has any insight into this problem i'd really appreciate it. i'm kinda at my wit's end.
thanks!

well, like i said, i tried 2 drives and 2 cds... the cd has always worked before for me but this time it's not. is there a way to make an image of the cd and use it on startup or anything?

I had to install a SATA drive 3 or 4 times before it "cought". Just a SATA not RAID. Book said didn't need additional drivers to do an install but I had the same reoccuring failure as you described. (various file failure) I think (on occasion) that it is a chipset driver issue that is resolved for good after you get Windows to install and then run motherboard driver disk.
