WinXP: how big is your Windows folder?

954mb. Thats after a fresh install. After numerous Windows Updates and drivers and install apps it normally goes up to around 1.4gb.

No need for a format. Clear out your registry using RegCleaner and remove any old programs and files that you don't use any more. Remove any files that are cloggin up your Windows folder.

BTW: Check how big your temporary internet files folder is. My guess, if you don't ever clear it out, a couple of hundred meg.

984Mb here, although that's because I install everything I can into my D: drive so if I have to reformat I don't lose much apart from Windows. Should point out that it's a 2-day old install, full WindowsUpdate and all my apps too.

Bloat.
1.13 for Wink 2 after 5-6 months.

Now I know why I uninstalled XP a few days after installing it, it's so bloated and stupid.
Wink 2k is hardly that different from XP and quite a bit smaller.

I wish for the days of the old Win 98 at 500MB or so 🙂

I call bloat on you, Lonyo! 🙂
I've got a tiny Celeron/400/96Mb/30Gb server machine by my feet, the standard (!) Win2k install is something in the region of 480Mb, and that's after three months hehe

I went for everything and have a backup from Service Pack install.

Pipboy, have you checked backups of service packs?
ServicePackFiles on my main folder is 200MB, $NtServicePackUninstalll$ is 150MB
My temp is 52MB.

That's 200MB I could probably get rid of, then the 200MB SPFiles folder I'm unsure about, maybe you could check these folders on your machine and see if they exist/take up lots of space, that might be a good clean.
