WinXP/Counterstrike Problem

I have installed WinXP, Half Life (Latest Version Update) and Counter strike (Latest Version) and my problem (other than that i suck!) is when i am playing the game then leave a server and connect to another server i do not actually see the game. I see the load screen and here the game being played but i cannot see it. In order to play i must close Counter Strike then restart, a royal pain! The game plays fine the first server i connect to, only when i try to change does it go all goofy on me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is my system specs(the stuff that matters anyways):
CPU:TBird 1400
Video: Winfast GeForce3
Memory: 512mb PC2100
Sound: Sound Blaster Live!
OS: WinXP Home Edition(Good!)/Mandrake 8.1(Very Good!)

that has to do with ur video settings. u donta ctually have to restart, just go back to the main screen. the only time when i dont have that problem is when i dont run the game using direct3d but instead use the software renderer. pictures dont look as nice though.
