The worst it's going to do to anyone else's machine is add 4 bytes to their registry hive and not affect anything else. Worst case scenario you're saving them a headache. :Q

I was hoping to save myself the job of doing that on multiple machines for me, not screwing up their machines. ;)

I have one of those and mine does not work that way. It shows five drives in explorer, whether anything is plugged in or not. Plugging in and removing a stick, for example, only mounts that stick. Removing it unmounts it. The drive letters don't change or disappear, however the order they appear in may seem a little obscure. I think something is hose up with the driver for that device.
