Hey -
I got this card a while ago at a time when my computer was down, and I figured I could use the card to convert analog video to digital when I got it up and working again.

Whenever I got it back up, I installed a number of drivers without really thinking about it, and didn't really know how to use/get the thing working.

In the meantime, I've reformatted, and have yet to install anything. Does anyone know where to get the CORRECT drivers, how to install them and if there is anything special about the installation of the drivers, and if I can use this thing to plug cable into to watch TV.

Thanks.

You'll find the drivers there, as well as manuals and instructions, and accessory software. Yes, you can use the PVR 150 to watch cable. That's what it's for :). I don't know this card specifically, but it probably has one coax input for the cable/antenna, and a second coax input for another line in. You will only get channels that can be tuned using analog frequencies. I get the bottom 70 channels on Comcast. As for capturing analog video, you can either use the second coax input (assuming the source has coax out), or an alternate video input if there is one. My ATI has an svideo port and a breakout box that accepts s-vid and composite.

The PVR-150 has a CATV co-ax input for the tuner, and a composite and s-video input that's not through the tuner. The software you use allows you to select which input to use, once you select the PVR150 as the input device.

I just downloaded the drivers myself as I'm about to rebuild my PVR computer. Assuming you have the card already installed physically, you have to install the base driver, then the driver update and middleware. If you got the remote control with the card, you also need to have that plugged in and install the remote software. You can also download the basic WinTV2000 software from Hauppauge (and download the WinTV video decoder update). There's also an update to the WinTV scheduler you'll want if you use the schedule list feature.

Alright, well I guess I never really installed it wrong in the first place, because the error I got before, I am getting now.

Whenever I try to start WinTV2000, I get the error message: "WinTV Initialization Error. hTV=0"

So... now what?

From the error code given I'm guessing that device creation is failing. That could be for a number of reasons, including hardware problems, driver problems, DirectX compatibility problems, and software version mismatches. The only thing I can suggest is to uninstall everything related to the card, then follow their installation instructions to the letter, and see if that helps.
