Winter/snow tires

On an M3? Hell yeah 🙂 Don't want to water that bad boy down. Maybe if it was a 328i or something like that. If I had an M3, I'd damn sure not drive it during snow/bad weather, why drive in that crap? Sand, salt, rocks, no thanks. That's why God invented pickups and beaters turbocharged Subarus 😀

Fixed 😉

Those are off-road tires, like the snow plow trucks around here use. You can't compare them to normal passenger car all-seasons.

i wasn't ... i was comparing them to snow tires.... and saying that snow tires are NOT required, even when living in high snow areas...

the A/T revo's do have an aggressive tread for off-roading... but not anywhere near as aggressive as a snow tire.

i read somewhere summer tires lose major grip when the ambient temp is too cold, regardless if there is snow or not.

I have BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM's on my 4x4 and they worked pretty good in snow.

Like the factory touring tires on my LS. Turns harder than concrete (and drives like it too) when the ambient temps fall below freezing (and needless to say below 0 - too common for midwest winters).

yeah i got steelies from a 4wheel parts sale for $25 each!

stepping on the brakes in snow, and still moving is pretty fuckin scary. Especially on cliffside roads.

I used my stock 16" rims as winters and bought a set of OZ Ultrallegera 18" (used) for summer.

Snows / chains will largely alleviate that. But then you have to worry about the chump/chumpette behind you who doesn't have the same stopping power 😛

chains are not legal in our city. The province of Quebec legislated mandatory snow tires. Can't say I blame them since they get shit ton of snow.

I had snows for the PT. Worked great. I still use all seasons in the Mighty Saturn. After last winter I might get snows for the Saturn though.

Yup. That's what happened to me in when an SUV rammed me with their all seasons while my RWD car with snow tires stopped just fine. I was going under 5 MPH when I stopped too.

That's why those of us with 4x4 with good tires tend to drive a little faster in the left hand lane. It's not that we think we're invincible in our SUV's .... it's just that we're trying to get away from the inevitable 20 car pileup that's going to occur.
