Wintel stickers

You know those CPU stickers that typically come with retail CPUs? Do you actually use them on your case? If so, do you just stick them wherever it "looks best" (depending on the case)? Or do you not use them at all?

Personally, if I'm building a machine for someone else, I tend to use the sticker on the machine's case. However, if I'm building a machine for myself, I don't use it (it's a bit tacky and I'm probably going to upgrade somewhere along the line anyway, rendering the sticker inaccurate).

I also remove stickers (CPU and OS) from prebuilt systems I purchase for myself (i.e. notebooks) - it looks much cleaner and sleeker.

All stickers, from a laptop or included w/ a PC part, get attached to the toolbox in my garage. Same as any stickers that come w/ my car parts. I don't mind a discreet logo on something I buy but I won't apply things myself.

No, I never put stickers on. To me it looks better without stickers.
Stickers are best only for something you are selling; it helps with marketing. But for only yourself? No stickers is best 🙂

BMW however looks better with the BMW badge IMO. You don't buy a bimmer just so that everyone who is dumb about cars doesn't know your car cost twice as much as their honda civic. It may surprise you, but your de-badged bimmer doesn't look anything different than a honda or a hyundai to many ignorant car non-enthusiasts 😉

Of course, don't buy a bimmer just for the badge either. Get it because it has the best performance and looks the best of any car <100K. 😉

hey I like this topic.

You know I am all about a clean case too. I did see someones build on overclock.net a while back and he had the stickers on the side of case in a specific spot. It looked really good.

On my Athlon X2 I had the sticker by my power switch and I thought it looked nice. I didn't put any others on.

On my new build I am deciding on it. I think on an empty cd/dvd slot on the case might look good. If the stickers were in similar size and you space them out.

Still got some old BFG Tech stickers somewhere.

I've thought of placing all the stickers on the inside of the side panel. That way, you could place all the sets of stickers in a row/column to signify the number of builds the case had. I didn't do that though with the current build in my signature. I purposely placed a Pentium G620 sticker(taken from my parent's rig that I built) on the front instead while there is a Core i5 3570K inside. :sneaky:

I make Christmas ornaments out of them and give them to friends and family. Sometimes I stick them to my cat.
