i was switching through my ethernet adapter's configuration a couple days ago, and noticed something odd.
the WINS server configured via DHCP, which i would think (given its description) should be located within a network, was the same as my DNS server. (which i had manually configured to 4.2.2.1)
so... have I been sending netbios requests and announcements at my DNS server for the past..forever?
how would i go about stopping this? i could block the port, but my preferred resolution would probably be to set up my computer to act as a WINS server.. if it's possible. (windows 7 professional)
